CVE-2026-50751 — VPN auth bypass, because passwords were apparently too mainstream

The Gist: Check Point’s Remote Access and Mobile Access certificate validation in deprecated IKEv1 has a logic flaw that lets an unauthenticated remote attacker bypass user authentication and establish a VPN session without a valid password. It’s a 9.3 critical, network-exploitable, and yes — it’s being exploited in the wild, with public proof-of-concept material floating around like a bad omen.

Why It Should Keep You Up at Night: If your VPN can be accessed without the whole “prove you’re allowed in” step, that’s not a VPN so much as a politely ajar front door. This is especially ugly because it hits remote access infrastructure — the exact thing standing between attackers and the rest of your environment, assuming it’s doing its job, which in this case it very much is not.

Your Playbook:

  • Disable deprecated IKEv1 for Remote Access where possible and move users to supported, hardened VPN configurations immediately.
  • Review Check Point guidance, patch affected gateways as soon as fixes are available in your supported train, and hunt for suspicious remote access sessions and anomalous VPN logins.

CVE-2026-11645 — Chrome V8 bug turns a web page into a bad day

The Gist: Google patched an out-of-bounds read/write flaw in Chrome’s V8 engine before version 149.0.7827.103 that can let a remote attacker execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox via a crafted HTML page. CVSS is 8.8, exploitation in the wild has been confirmed, and the attack vector is the classic “just visit this cursed page.”

Why It Should Keep You Up at Night: Browser zero-days are the cybersecurity equivalent of stepping on a rake in your own yard: everyone uses the thing, and one wrong click can start a chain of pain. Yes, sandboxed code execution is better than unsandboxed code execution, in the same way a smaller fire is better than a larger fire — still not ideal for production.

Your Playbook:

  • Update Chrome to 149.0.7827.103 or later across all managed desktops immediately, and make sure Chromium-based browsers tracking upstream fixes are also current.
  • Prioritize high-risk users for emergency browser updates and review EDR/browser telemetry for suspicious child processes or exploit-like behavior following browser launches.

CVE-2026-34908 — UniFi OS hands out admin-grade chaos

The Gist: Ubiquiti UniFi OS devices are affected by an improper access control flaw that allows a malicious actor with network access to make unauthorized changes to the system. It carries a perfect 10.0 CVSS score, is being exploited in the wild, and public chatter is loud enough to qualify as its own weather pattern.

Why It Should Keep You Up at Night: Network-accessible infrastructure with max-severity access control bugs is how defenders end up rage-staring at config diffs at midnight. If an attacker can reach the device and start making unauthorized changes, you’re not just looking at downtime — you’re looking at persistence, lateral movement, and the deeply unfun task of figuring out what else got “reconfigured.”

Your Playbook:

  • Patch UniFi OS devices to the latest vendor-fixed versions immediately and verify management interfaces are not unnecessarily exposed across internal segments.
  • Restrict administrative access with tight ACLs, isolate management networks, and audit recent configuration changes for anything that looks remotely “creative.”
